I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2000. At that time, I had no interest in pursuing this field further and decided that I was happiest in a kitchen. I knew I needed a business background, so I went back to school and did an intesive course in Hotel/Restaurant Management at night while working full time in an office during the day. While at my office job, I started selling baked goods like cookies and brownies, and was also making lunches for people to get some exposure. A friend of mine (and a co-worker) always loved my food and asked me to cater her wedding. It was around this time that Morsels was born!
I was watching the Food Network one day and saw this cake challenge - then it hit me - this is what I want to do in life! About 5 years ago, I took the plunge! I knew how to bake (Nanny June taught me well!) but decided to take a course at The Pearson School of Culinary Arts, where I learned the basics. Everything else has been self-taught through TV, DVDs, and books. I take every opportunity I can to take classes. I have studied with acclaimed sugar artist Alan Dunn, the talented Jennifer Dontz (twice), the King of sugar flowers - Ron Ben Israel, and Food Network Challenge multiple time winner - James Rosselle! I have started teaching and am producing my own instructional DVDs. I also have a blog where I review products and interview famous cake artists! I am happy to be the Administrator of the Montreal South Shore chapter and hope to see you at a meeting! Happy Caking!
